Personal Progress Update

The following are the requirements for completing Personal Progress for young women:
  • Live the standards in For the Strength of Youth. The bishop or branch president verifies this in an interview.

  • Complete six Value Experiences and one Value Project in each of the seven Young Women values.
    • A young woman should complete the six experiences in a value before doing the project in that value.
    • A parent or Young Women leader should approve the project before she begins.
    • A young woman reviews her completed work with a parent or a leader, who initials that experience in her Personal Progress book.
    • When all six experiences and the project in a value are completed, a leader may present an achievement emblem to be placed in the back of the Personal Progress book.

  • Keep a personal journal.

  • Record her testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ.

  • Have a personal worthiness interview.

Okay, my Personal Progress Update:
I am working on Individual Worth, which I first presented the information about HERE. And this is what I have done since then...

INDIVIDUAL WORTH VALUE EXPERIENCES

Complete the following three Value Experiences. Have your parent or leader sign and date each experience after you finish.

__X__ 1. You are a daughter of Heavenly Father, who knows you and loves you. Read Psalm 8:4–6, Jeremiah 1:5, John 13:34, D&C 18:10, and Abraham 3:22–23. Write in your journal how these scriptures teach you that Heavenly Father loves you and is mindful of you.

In these scripture references, Heavenly Father states that we should love each other as HE loves us, and that HE knew each of us before we were born, and while in our mother's bellies, he was satisfied with us and he took the time to know all of us. To me that proves that He knows and loves us since taking the time to know us individually is HUGE, specially in our society!

__X__ 2. Learn the importance of planning and preparation. Read D&C 88:119. In your journal make a list of your hopes and dreams for your future home, family, and education and some important things you would like to accomplish in your life, including becoming a wife and mother. Then record a plan that will help you achieve your goals. Share this plan with a family member, leader, or friend.

My lists of Hopes & Dreams for My future ~ Home: To be completed! To be righteous and full of happiness. Family: to be sealed in the temple. Education: to never stop. To continually seek new information relevant to my life.

__X__ 3. Read D&C 18:10 and D&C 121:45. Do all you can to build others and make them feel of worth. Every day for two weeks notice the worthwhile qualities and attributes of others. Acknowledge them verbally or in writing. In your journal write what you have learned about the worth of individuals and how your own confidence grows when you build others.

All I have to do is wait for the mail to come on Monday to take my letters to each of the previous listed persons I had observed. YAY...

__X__ 5. Visit with your living relatives to learn as much information about your family history as possible. Then complete a pedigree chart of your family and list the temple ordinances that have been completed for each person.

Relatives Visited with: Mom and Maternal Grandmother...I completed a pedigree chart of my family and listed the temple ordinances that have been completed for each person. {Now I must confess here that the two relatives I visited with have done EXTENSIVE genealogy work, so I just waited for my mom to e-mail me the pedigree chart, and then I copied the info by hand... I have copied down this information before for other purposed, but thankfully, didn't have to do much research to have the information!}
Part of the discovery information I obtained through this is that my Grandpa was born "on the farm!" and that one of my Great Grandparents went a little batty when her husband left her in their home in South Eastern Colorado while he went on Harvest. She was all alone with NO ONE but herself to keep her company. I also found out that some of my great grandparents did not pass away until I was like 7 years old, but I never met them...

INDIVIDUAL WORTH VALUE PROJECT

After you have completed six Individual Worth Value Experiences, create a project that will help you practice what you have learned. This should be a significant effort that will take at least ten hours to complete. Prayerfully seek the guidance of the Holy Ghost to select a meaningful project.

My project is: Compile your personal or family history using journal entries, pictures, and important papers.

My plan to carry out my project is:

1. Document the little & BIG things in Hunter's life through photography.

2. Keep journal information about the pictures.

3. Print out above mentioned pictures and mat them.

4. Scrapbook those pictures and journal information.

Approval __X__ Estimated completion date __SOON!__{currently have about 5 hours in and about 4 more pages worth of pics and journaling to complete!

My evaluation of the project is (include how you felt and how your understanding of individual worth increased):
I am glad to be keeping track of Hunter's history so when he has children, grand children, great grand children, they will be able to look at the scrapbook and not only see pictures but have the journaling information to actually know what is going on in the pictures and our lives at that time.
My understanding of individual worth increased with this project: I am still working on the project, and this statement... Any Ideas?

You ROCK! Luckily I got mine done when I was a Senior (by the skin of my teeth). I have considered going back through the book since I've been in YW. It would be fun to really earn it, for myself. Now that I care, I should say.
