Twilight

So I got roped in!
For church the Young Women decided that for their fund raiser for Camp would be to make up some goodie baskets and then have people donate a dollar for a ticket for a chance to win a basket. The first basket was a "date night" basket that included a donated dinner for two at a local restaurant, 2 movie tickets, a candle, and candy...
The second casket was a "Family Fun Night" basket that included a donated $25 to the local bowling alley, games included monopoly, a conversation jar, and snacks & treats.
The reason I got roped in:
The third basket was a "Twilight" Basket. It included the newly released to DVD Twilight, the most resent book of the saga Breaking Dawn, Poster, Calendar, Blanket, and Bookmark.
The girls were so VERY VERY excited about this basket. I decided that I would see what all the fuss was about and so I bought the soft covered book Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilightseries.html). It took me about 24 hours to read this book. I started on Sunday night (or there abouts) and I was finished before Tuesday. I couldn't stop myself. I then went back to the store and bought the softcover New Moon, I then read that book. I had finished it by probably Thursday!
I just couldn't stop. I read as much as I could. I didn't really do much of anything except make sure Hunter was content with his toys or movie and made sure the kid had food to eat (though he is picky and didn't exactly eat some of what he was offered...)
As soon as I was done with the 2nd book, I hurried back to the store and purchased the Hardback copy of Eclipse (since there isn't a softcover copy out there yet, making my collection off balanced with both hard and soft covers!). I finished Eclipse by Saturday afternoon so I hurried back to the store and bought the latest release of Breaking Dawn. This book I completed reading on Monday. Chris was giving me grief about reading so much, so I took a LITTLE longer with this one. It also probably took a little longer since this was the longest book of the saga with well over 700 pages!
Now it's all over... or at least for now. Apparently the author is working on another book in her spare time. This means, who knows when it will finally be released. For those die hard fans though, there is a downloadable copy of this newest book, Midnight Sun, on the authors website. Apparently, someone released the manuscript for this book long before it was ready to be published... with only a portion of the book completed. Mrs. Meyer decided that since it is already available over the Internet, she would offer it on her website, though again, it is NOT finished. I am having a very difficult time with this. I really want to go read this unfinished manuscript of the new book, but since it is not in the form the author wants for publication, it isn't the actual story the author is planning to publish (with rewrites and deletions, it will give not enough or too much info). I am really trying to wait for the publication before reading the book... We will see if my resolve will last!
For those of you who would like to read what Mrs. Meyer has so far on Midnight Sun, you can click on the title and it will take you to the website with her "official" download.
I do recommend these books. It only took me a week to read the four that are available! Wow. I think that I am done reading for the year, unless for some reason Midnight Sun becomes available in Hardback! Craziness...
Oh, and then there is the movie of Twilight that is on DVD now... Ugg... I was SO very disappointed with this movie after reading the book. It just didn't cover it. It skipped SO much that it just didn't give me the connection between Bella and Edward that the book did. It also didn't portray the rest of the characters as in depth as the book. Hmmm, but I will probably watch it again since it is only about an hour and half long and it took a full 24 hours to read the book!

I had seen the movie before I read the books. And When I first saw it. I thought it was pretty good and it left me with a desire to read the books. I then read all 4 books within 2 weeks. (That was last Dec.) And then saw the movie again and again and again and again. Then bought the movie and have watched it to many times to count. I agree, much was left out of the movie but that usually is the case with most books made into a movie but I still love it!!

I have read some of midnight sun and it is good. But last I heard she wasn't going to finish it and publish it. Maybe there is new news that I haven't heard. I hope she does finish it though.

Lacee was here this weekend and I sent her home with those cricut cutting mats for you. Hope all is well and hope to see you soon!
