Growing In Unity Day 3 ~ Christmas is Coming!

It is Day THREE of Unity all Week here on my blog.

Today's project is Altered Candles and Gift Box that is designed specially to hold 4 little candles! I found this tutorial HERE by Katie.

I started with 4 plain candles (vanilla scented). I stamped the sentiment from Unity's September '09 KOM: Go Ahead...Wish onto tissue paper. I then used my heat gun to melt the sentiment into the candles.

I used two of the stamps my mom won in a grab bag to stamp some extra tissue paper for decoration. The stamps were the leaves from Simple Blessings.

I made the box with SU Tempting Turquoise cardstock my good online friend Katy sent me! She is very sweet. Make sure to visit Katy's blog and give her some love for her wonderful creations.

I used Unity's Worn Grid background stamp to stamp the top of the box. You can see it on the lip of the box.

I used Martha Stewart dp to cover the rest of the box.

I finished it off with a ribbon to keep the box closed. I will be putting a tag on the box, but didn't have it completed when I took the pictures of this box set.

STUFF I USED FOR THIS PROJECT:

STAMPS: {Unity} September '09 KOM: Go Ahead... Wish, {Unity} Worn Grid, {Unity} Simple Blessings
INK: {SU} Basic Black & Tempting Turquoise
PAPER: {SU} Tempting Turquoise, {Martha Stewart} Floral Burst & Crosshatch
ACCESSORIES: {Mainstays} Candles, Acetate, Ribbon, Twill
TOOLS: Heat gun, tissue paper, double sided adhesive, Katie's Tutorial, wax paper

Here is another sample of this box set! For the below sets I also used the stamps from Bright & Merry Winter Wishes. I stamped them in Not Quite Navy.
The tag was made with Stylin' Stars.
I first stamped the star, then again on a post it note to mask it.
(You can see a small tutorial I put together on masking on THIS post).

I then stamped the circle image over the masked star so the circle would be behind the star ornament! I finished the ornaments off with a glittery pen to draw on the ribbons!
The sentiment is from Verve.

Come back tomorrow for more UNITY fun!
