Unhappy Tidings - (with some fun stuff inbetween)

So, as all my blogs say, we just got home from Colorado.
We went to go for Chris's Maternal Grandparents 50th Anniversary Party!!!!
HAPPY 50 YEARS!

Here is the happy couple toasting with sprite in their wine glasses!

It was a fun party, with lots of family and a dance that lasted until about 11 p.m. Hunter even let his mommy and daddy take some spins around the dance floor without too much fuss! It could be because he was so tired that he just eventually crashed in his lawn chair!

The next morning, Chris's paternal Grandfather was in the Hospital, so all the cousins were on a mission to go bug him until he was blue in the face. Unfortunalty, that was not in God's plan because he called Chris's Grandfather home before we headed that way on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at roughly 6:45 a.m. So, instead of bugging Grandpa, the grandkids were able to use their time for support for Grandma.

(sorry the pics not the greatest, but I had to steal it from Sky's myspace because all my pics of Alvin are on disk somewhere)
So Chris made a mad dash back to Texas to get things assituated, and then went back to Colorado to see family and for the Services.

The Services were very nice, and short to Grandpa's standards. I'm sure he wouldn't of had it any other way. He enjoyed Chris and My wedding since it was a flat 5 minute ceremony! All the grandchildren were Casket Bearers. Chris and his cousin Jerome were all decked out in their jackets and ties. They looked very nice and were both more dressed up for this ceremony then the were for my wedding! Because of his military service, Grandpa's final resting place will be at Fort Lyon National Cemetery. It is a well kept place with matching headstones for all.
Inside Grandpa's program, there was this poem:

WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME
WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME,
AND I'M NOT THERE TO SEE;
IF THE SUN SHOULD RISE AND FIND YOUR EYES,
ALL FILLED WITH TEARS FOR ME;
I WISH SO MUCH YOU WOULDN'T CRY
THE WAY YOU DID TODAY,
WHILE THINKING OF THE MANY THINGS,
WE DIDN'T GET TO SAY.
I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU LOVE ME,
AS MUCH AS I LOVE YOU,
AND EACH TIME THAT YOU THINK OF ME,
I KNOW YOU'LL MISS ME TOO.

A few good things did come out of this sad event.

1. we were able to see both sides of Chris's family because the two events happened during the same week.

2. I was able to get a picture of all of Hunter's Cousins. There are 6 great grandbabies on the paternal side and 4 great grandbabies on the maternal side! So Hunter has 6 cousins in total on his dad's side! Granted, only Misty's kids are his first cousins, they are still related close enough to be cousins. I don't think I will ever be able to get one picture of all the cousins from my side since everyone lives so spread apart and no one ever comes to visit at the same time (not even Thanksgiving or Christmas!)

Also during this trip, Hunter, Grandma La Rene, and I took the time to go to the park for some much needed outside play time. We visited 3 different parks during the day because after the 1st one (which was only about half an hour) we had things that needed to be taken care of; the second one smelled - it was the library park and I do NOT recommend playing there ever; and the 3rd one was were we headed since the 2nd one stunk and we still had time to kill before picking up my nephew from school! My mom took SO many pictures that I can't and won't try to even post a quarter of them! Instead, here is my favorite picture of Hunter playing at the park:
